I am Liz, a personal trainer, yoga teacher, and the founder of Flow Lab. I have been passionate about health and wellness for as long as I can remember, and it has been my honor to share the numerous benefits of staying active, taking care of oneself, and embarking on the ever-evolving journey of yoga and meditation for self-discovery.

I became a qualified personal trainer in 2000 and worked with numerous clients, helping them lose weight, improve their strength, or transform their body shape. While I found this work fulfilling, I often sensed that something was missing. It took me many years to truly identify that all of these goals were focused on the physical and people not wanting to look at what was holding them back from achieving their goals. It felt like a bit of a conveyor belt at times and many times I felt helpless to really support clients when their limitations were much deeper than willpower and self-restraint. I doubted my role as a personal trainer and started searching for more.

It was through various life obstacles and detours that I eventually found myself in Thailand, where I discovered Yoga.

My first yoga class was incredibly challenging. Despite my physical strength and abilities, moving my body through different ranges of motion and focusing on deep, mindful breathing proved to be extremely difficult for me initially. I vividly recall feeling incredibly awesome but also quite sore the next day. I loved it! This happened in 2005, but it wasn't until 2008 that I began delving deeper into my practice. At first, I became obsessed with the physical aspect of yoga and the tangible benefits I experienced. However, by 2011, I yearned for something more profound. I desired to trace back the roots of yoga and embarked on my first teacher training in India.

This teacher training experience was truly eye-opening as it compelled me to look inward, which was a challenging and arduous process. We were provided with the necessary tools, but it was ultimately up to me to put in the work. Subsequently, I spent a year traveling alone, seeking to know myself and discover who I am outside of my familiar environment. I explored the world with no agenda, observing the people who attracted me or were drawn to me, eager to learn from them and share my own insights. It was during this transformative journey that the idea of opening a movement and yoga studio began to take shape. I envisioned a space where I could bring clients and introduce them to the concept of finding balance between strength and flexibility, a place where individuals could connect in the heart of the Sydney CBD and feel welcomed. In 2012, after my life-changing sabbatical, I found myself moving from one gym to another, teaching classes and training clients. It was in one of the most unexpected gyms that a student attending my class mentioned a space available in the Sydney CBD above her chiropractor's office, urging me to check it out. In 2014, I finally opened my first yoga studio, and all my dreams became a reality.

Since then, so much has evolved, but a few things remain true. I still cherish the joy of moving my body daily, although my yoga practice has transformed significantly over the past 15 years, especially now that I am a mother. I continue to relish the privilege of guiding individuals in moving their bodies and helping them feel amazing.
